Kay Pauli
Kay Pauli is a self-taught traditional and contemporary Aboriginal artist. A Wangkumara descendant based out of the Sunshine Coast of Queensland, Australia - Kay's art is about connection, drawing inspiration from The Dreamtime and sharing the message of Hope.
Kay uses acrylic and canvas, painting vibrant and exotic portraits of reptiles, Australian wildlife and traditional Aboriginal stories and ceremonies. She speaks through her art combining aspects of traditional styling and applying modern touches to her prints using airbrushing, digital art and drawing.
Each one of her paintings tells a story and has a meaning. As an artist, she develops a deep relationship with each piece. For Kay, painting helps reinforce her identity and reflects her cultural connection to Country. She has stated that she started painting as a way to heal.
